An LGBT+ Life: How it was, How it is

1 February @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

To kick off LGBT+ History Month, I’m presenting an evening of LGBT+ history and poetry with the Higgins Bedford. I’ll be covering the political campaigns that have affected the LGBT+ community, including the emergence of C.H.E. (Campaign for Homosexual Equality) and G.L.F. (Gay Liberation Front), early and ongoing Gay Pride Celebrations in the UK, the impact of HIV/AIDS, and the ongoing struggle against Hate Crime. I will also focus on the challenges the community has faced in gaining acceptance, equality and respect within mainstream society.

Poets and spoken word artists are encouraged to participate in the open mic as well – email Lydia.Saul@bedford.gov.uk to sign up. Join us on Zoom at 7:00-8:30pm on 1st Feb!

Details can also be found on the Higgins Bedford website here.
